I think that's going to be my topic line from now on, no matter what. Anyhow me and my friend Chris, an avid writer and bohemian poet, are going to go to New York. The first reason is because rocks are going to be thrown at police and republicans and that is something to see. The other reason is that we've never been to New York. So if anyone else wants to come to the largest protest of this generation or just wants to see New York you should say so and we could meet up, maybe form a L&E coalition at the demonstration. Chris isn't exactly a forum goer yet but I'm sure he will be eventually. And we could actually use someone who has been to New York before around. The only thing I've figured out so far is to avoid attempted driving and to avoid any place that looks weird, because there are weird places in New York.

Please tell me you're not stupid enough to partake in that. It's people like that that have given me reason to not go to protests anymore. They ruin it for those of us who go to protest peacefully by giving protesters a bad name. They throw rocks at police officers, who are just doing their jobs, and then turn into a sissy little bitchbox when the cops get pissed and kick their sorry asses. Stupid, stupid, stupid people.
Anyway, don't do anything stupid, have fun, fight the power, but above all else, take care of yourself. A protest of this size (aren't they expecting several million protesters or something?) can only lead to trouble.

No no, we're not going to be a part of any trouble unless forced to. I'm a bit of a veteran of the movement myself. I did march with the Black Bloc one time and found them to be very good folks. All we did in that march was trample a police barrier. I've observed that the cops are a lot more provocative when there is no core anarchist contingent present. They know if they start something people are going to fight back and I think that's a positive thing. The coalition that organized it, INTL. ANSWER, is asking for a permit for 250000 and there'll likely be more. I know how to keep from being arrested and also the old trick of not bringing ID.

eat in little italy too, the less american the place looks the better...i usually just go in to see the knicks or something actually, but i guess since youre from out of town Times Square might be cool to see, but its more of just a dirty walk. you could take the subway to world trade station and see a big hole if you want..statue of liberty and empire state building are boring things i think...canal street has head shops if youre into that (objects strictly for "tobacco" use of course) going back...new york is just all about eating and dont take a girl there she'll wanna buy stuff

p.s. unfortunately the only thing in the garden soon is WNBA i, personally, am not a fan..they cant even dunk, cept that one but i think its a guy

Oh no my friend, the garden is hosting a far sillier event than the WNBA. They're hosting the republican national convention! We're getting off the metro at the WTC and then visiting china town and little italy then on to central park for the protest and then maybe saint patrick's and manhattan mall.

Are there any nifty anime places or maybe really super restaurants? And what about museums?

you like zoo's? bronx zoo is awesome, and central park is cheaper and not as time consuming, but still fun.

restaurants, im sure there are expensive steak houses like a Ruth's Chris or something, but the best are the no-name ones in china town or little italy, thats authentic home made stuff the best restaurant i ever went to was one in china town where i couldnt read the sign and i had to point to what i wanted on the menu

Ah, naw we're not really zoo people. Being D&D nuts we'd probably go into some sort of illusionary phsycosis and start murdering the more threatening animals to gain XP, seeing as video games have so much influence on folks and all. By the way, as I understand it there are strange, strange places in New York. We come from the land where there are no odd folks and there are definately no clubs where odd folks gather. You know those scenes the Waichowski brothers seem to love to put into Matrix movies? Yeah, we'd like to make damned sure we don't stumble into anything like that...
