I was clicking the other night and saw that sappy spectacle, Somewhere in Time. Personally I don't mind it, but I can see where many would cringe.

The Final Countdown was good, and I'd like to see it again. And I know we have a Groundhog Day fan aboard.

Just curious. I love the concept of Time Travel, and was wondering what films our forum members consider to be worthy.

I came from the future to edit this post

Well, who could go past the original Back to the Future film?

(no, not the trilogy... just the first film)

Beastmaster II

LOL, I know it's an awful movie, but it's a guilty pleasure!

There is the Time Machine from last year, I think. But, gee, that was bloody awful in my opinion.

There is a lovely French comedy, though, featuning Jean Reno called "The Visitors" or some other equivalent in English. Good stuff, great fun. Check it out.

Bad choices would the "The Black Knight" - horrible film.

Although K-Pax is not about time travel, the theme is similar. I actually liked it.

These are all from the top of my head.

And, I believe I was abominately rude and I did not say welcome back to you, Despondent. So, welcome back smile.gif

Well thanks MC, MG. smile.gif

I saw the butterfly effect recently and thought it was interesting. Reminded me of the Simpson's treehouse of horror bit with the time travel toaster.

With the exception of maybe SEVEN, all Kevin Spacey movies would be better as books.

My favorite Time travel movies are still THE TERMINATOR, TWELVE MONKEYS and BACK TO THE FUTURE (yeah, the first one)

There's a film version in the works of A SOUND OF THUNDER, a 6-7 page short story from Ray Bradbury. It was among the earliest popular muliple-universe time travel stories a la THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT. I guess they're going to flesh it out a bit, like they do with all the Phillip K Dick stuff.

12 monkeys was great. I loved the score to the film. Pit's role was so much fun to watch. I think it cast a shadow on Bruce Willis lead.

Pit has a knack for playing psychopathic mad men.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Army of Darkness or Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

I have forgotten about Twelve Monkeys… It is the best ever. One of my favourite films. Brad Pitt as a psycho is just unrivalled. Bruce Willis is less though guy than usual, and more heart. And last but not least, Madeleine Stowe… IMO, she is THE best, most beautiful and talented actresses I have ever seen.

Never saw Twelve Monkeys though I hear it's good.

Obviously I would say the original Back to the Future is great, and the other 2 I thought were still entertaining, but nowhere near the original.

But I'm surprised no one mentioned the original Time Machine. It's a little dated yeah, but it's still a very good movie. I agree though, the Guy Pearce Time Machine was not good at all. It started out with great promise, and then just sunk.

I like all the Terminator movies, probably T1 more than any of the others. T2 and T3 pretty much have the same strengths and weaknesses, I like them about the same.

And KPAX really isn't Time Travel, but I'm glad I found someone else who liked it. I thought it was a really well-done, interesting movie, and Spacey is great as usual.

Timeline was decent, I never read the book (interestingly, I haven't read any Michael Chricton books, I probably should) but I thought it was forgettable entertainment.

And I can't think of anything else right now, though someone told me there was a movie about how HG Wells actually does go through time to rescue his lover or something, and they said it was really well done. I'll ask him about it and see it, he really piqued my interest.

I think I recall reading that in a certain men's magazine in 1982.

I've never sat throught the Terminator movies so maybe that would be a good use of time.

no pun intended. Time Bandits also comes to mind. But the projectionist really screwed it up so my memory is a little hazy on that.

Yes, BTTF was great save a tiny, minor quibble over the Exact time of the lightning strike. Not as big as the plot hole over the Somewhere in Time pocket watch, however.

I can't believe I forgot Time Bandits! "Mum, Dad! Don't touch it! It's eeevil!" Classic.

And I'm also glad I'm not the only one who was just a bit bothered by that plot hole (which is all the more annoying because it could have been rectified easily and changed almost none of the story), it didn't take away from my enjoyment, but it definitely stands out in an otherwise perfectly structured movie.

I only saw a tiny bit of that on one of those random movie channels, but that part made me laugh my ass off.

Because, naturally, they touch it.
