i agree with a couple people, of whom im too lazy to remember their names, i didn't expect a twist, and then it was like, whoah, but the ending was a little, stale. (i wanted to use that word so it may or may not be a good adjective for the situation). it was like other shyamalan movies. not scary, just had good story.i would go into more detail about this movie, but first of all, im tired and lazy, and second, i wouldn't say anything that hasn't already been said. it would be futile to proceed, so accept my short couple sentences long review.

oh and by the way, jane sherwood, .......................i fall to pieces everytime i read your signature, it's really fowny. just a compliment.

QUOTE
Hmmm... my viewing might have been hampered by the fact that, for the first 15 minutes of the movie, the theatre's projector was out of whack so that we couldn't see anyone's head.

Thats nothing compared to when I went to see Toy Story, and the film reel caught on fire.

It actually looked really cool, the giant projection of burning film-stuff.

The film caught on fire when I went to see MIB2.

Oh boy. I have yet to have anything cool happen during a movie excursion. I wish the film had caught fire during Aliens vs. Predator.

The blind girl's "colors" sounded to me like she was able to sense auras but nothing else in the visual (or metaphysical) spectrum. Mmm... colored electromagnetic energy that radiates from people...

Spoiler

Has anyone read Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix? It was required reading when I was in 4th grade. Kids' book, but, uh . . . way too much of The Village it is *exactly* like that book. That really took away the joy of seeing it for me, because I was just sitting there going, "I think I read this when I was 9 . . ."

But besides that . . .

End of spoiler

I liked M. Night Shyamalan's style. Yes, the dialogue was a bit cheesy, but the camera movements, the use of color, and the sub-plots like the retarded kid and the romance between that blind girl and that guy (I have no memory for names) were pretty entertaining. I think the overall atmosphere of the film was enough for me to want to go out and buy it when it comes out on DVD.

I actually liked the old fashioned dialouge, as I talk like that sometimes(though, admittedly I do it to fell superior and piss people off, but still).
