I can't understand how you could put yourself through the agony of watching the prequels one more time, let alone purchasing them. But I completely understand severing your childhood connections to Star Wars though. You're speaking my language on that one.

I'm going to buy them out of obligation. The same way Chefelf stated he was still a fan of Star Wars only because of he felt obliged to.

Besides, I have Star Wars Episode 1 and 2 on VHS. I bought them on that format because I didn't have a DVD player at that time, now I do so I'm only going to buy DVD's from now on.

My only dissapointment so far is the fact that the title of Episode III isn't crappier than it is... I was really looking forward to it being called 'The creeping fear' as some people thought a while back.

Here's an interesting tid bit. When I first watched Star Wars Episode 1 at the movies back in 1999 (I was only 16 years old when I watched it), I actually had a mild liking of it. But now when I put it in my VCR and play it, I grimace, groan and growl every ten seconds at it's stupidity.

Good thing I was mature enough to know that Star Wars Episode II was crap when it first came out two years back, and I'm sure I'll find Episode III even worse!

I actually wasn't a huge fan of the Two Towers, Extended Edition. Granted, I only stayed through half of it, so maybe it just got a lot better from there. However, every new scene up until then seemed out of place. I mean, really, what was with the tree that ate Sam and Pip? Wasn't that a scene from the first book that they didn't include for rather good reason?

Yeah, it was a nod to the removal of the Old Man Willow scene from The Fellowship of the Ring. However, you're right. It really should have been left on the cutting room floor.

I do think Eomer was introduced a lot better in the Extended Edition - perhaps you'll agree. But the really wonderful addition to the Extended version was a flashback scene showing Faramir with Boromir and Denethor. It helped explain a lot why Faramir was acting like such a jerk to the hobbits... and of course, it was really nice to see Boromir again too. But that scene alone is worth watching the movie for, in my opinion.

It's in the second half - you'll have to watch it sometime when you get the chance.

Ah, I see. You're not going to abandon Star Wars as it lies on its deathbed.

Lemme tell you something about myself and Star Wars. Ever since 1997, I've been having some kind of Star Wars fantasy running through my head from time to time. Now that fantasy still exists and visits me every now and then but it has evolved so much that it doesn't resemble Star Wars at all... So I more or less created my own Sci-Fic universe (which would probably be FAR better than the Star Wars prequels) just by thinking about it continously in my spare time over the past several years.

So I am going to forget about Star Wars when it dies... and that will be with the release of Star Wars episode III, right now it's struggling to breathe as its life is slowly fading away...
