It staggers me how many guys on the internet go on and on about how hot Amidala is. To me, she just doesn't do it. She shows some fetching cleavage in Episode II, true, but I just get the impression that she's a teenage girl.

There's nothing wrong with teenage girls, nothing at all. However, I just don't find them sexually attractive. In Australia, if adult guys go for teenage girls, we call them 'cradle snatchers' and other such unsavoury terms. And that is because for most males out there, teenage girls are kids.

Probably one of the biggest problems with the romance in Episode II is that it is essentially a high school fling. In my experience, kids don't know much about love - and it is only painful and embarassing to witness kids who think they do. Kiddy flings do not equal romance.

Princess Leia on the otherhand is not a kid. Her romance with Han worked (at least before Return of the Jedi came along - come on, Mike and Rory! I know you're just dying to say something about that!). She was strong, independent, fiesty and let's face it, when she put on that metal bikini, pretty damn sexy too.

So what does Leia have over Amidala? It's so simple...

Leia is a woman. Amidala is a kid.

And why do all the prequel-groupies love Amidala? Because they too are kids.

Thank you for reading.

Ya right.

I've seen so many hot 16,17,18,19 year olds this summer. I'm often pissed off that I can't hit on them. Well 18 up is kosher.

The love story was extremely weak. It makes me puke just thinking about it. The problem with it?

1) The only episode to make room for the love story was ep2.

2) The love story, if you add up all the scenes that portrayed it, sum up to a grand total of about 7 minutes. OB1 and Anakin's adds up to about 2 minutes. You can't have a passionate love story with that much exposure. Age has nothing really to do with it. I think the main reason was the lack of chemistry between the actors. Anakin and Padme relationship shared as many sparks, twists, and turns as Ben Stiller and Jennifer Anistion shared in ALONG CAME POLLY. (that is not a good thing)

Along Came Polly sounds bad. But are you seriously telling me that you think Amidala's got it over Princess Leia?

I think Nat Portman is hot~ Carrie Fisher was not ugly but not super attractive either. She looked the best in ROTJ.

Han and Lelia's relationship spanned 3 movies. We saw fights, humor, and romance. It was believable and enjoyable to watch. Not to mention Lelia put her life on the line to save her man.

Nat Portman is megahot, Amidala isn't. I blame the directing and the dialogue. As for Carrie Fisher, meeeh. More importantly, Leias romance with Han made sense and it had charm. I never understood the Jabba bikini thing though biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Man, am I the only one who prefers women to girls?

My girlfriend is six years older than me and all the better for it. Girls are not women. They are children who will become women when they're older.

I don't think Leia is the hottest woman in a movie or anything - but I just think she made a much more attractive leading lady than Amidala.

I'm not really in a position to judge the relative 'hotness' of the two, but it seems obvious to me why most people prefer Leia to Amidala. Carrie Fisher isn't the world's most beautiful woman, but she made Leia seem like a real person. She was feisty and witty, and she talked and acted the way you'd expect from someone in her situation. She was a senator like her mother, but she didn't drone on and on about her love of democracy like George W. Bush addressing a primary-school class.

Amidala had no personality. Her only function was to look pretty and parrot off stilted dialogue about how wonderful the Republic was. She reacted to other characters in totally unrealistic ways - witness her inexplicable attraction to the whiny, immature Anakin, and her complete lack of concern when he admitted slaughtering a whole village of people! Lucas doesn't know how to write a believable romance, so basically he just said, "sod it, they're in love because the script says so!"

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

Thank you, Helina. It is good to hear a female perspective on the issue. I also think that Carrie Fisher was a much more mature actor. I was so surprised when I found out she was just 19 in Star Wars. But if someone told me that Natalie Portman was 15, I wouldn't be at all surprised.

Being hot is skin deep. Personality has nothing to do with it. 99% of bond women turn my crank. They have no backbone or depth. And some of them are evil- trying to kill bond and all.

While I'm at it, let's compare the romances of the two Star Wars trilogies in a more simple way. Like they say, a picture says a thousand words.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Gee, why stop there? Let's compare the main characters too!

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

I rest my case, your honour.

Okay. And now to compare the two character in question, (getting back to the original topic again for a few moments)...

After much searching, I found a large close-up picture of each character that portrays each of them favourably so you may judge objectively.

So guys, which character is more attractive - the mature Leia or the adolescent Amidala?

Nat Portman is most attractive. She's 23 by the way, hardly a kid. You know I'm just posting this to annoy you JYAMG biggrin.gif I don't let my hatred of the PT disable my sense of aesthetics. As Jordan pointed out, it's only skin deep.

Natalie is a babe, I'll attest to that.

In JEDI, when Leia had her little talk with Luke, She looked absolutely Horrid. that's what 6 years time (and substances) will do.

Lucas avoided that trap by starting with a younger lady this time. but there's no chemistry between our young heroes so he STILL screws up.

character wise, Leia is hotter because she knows what she wants in the bad boy we respect.

Amidala is attracted to the Anikan we've been given?
what kind of a loser she must be.
(Maybe SHE needs substance abuse to explain this.)
