Heh, Hecc, about the posts, I didn't want to say anything about all those posts, but since you brought it up...

That's a freaking lot of posts, dude.

My copy of 1984 sits by my computer when I'm not reading it.

Keep in mind that I'm probably the only user here who regularly posts in forums outside of my own, which would account for my unusually high post count. I visit everything aside from the Star Wars one, and I even have a few kicking around there.

Nonsense. You are the glue that binds these forums together. Without you these forums would be nothing.

I remember 1984 vividly. I was still playing Shark! Shark! religiously in 1984.

I only make the obligatory "looks like I updated" post in my own forum, and my post count shrinks every night.

And your "Today In Gaming History" thing on your L&E page would mean nothing without it. I still can't believe how many days in a row "Shark! Shark!" was released.

In 1984 I had to make the descision between being a gymnast or a track and field athlete. I played Rugby League in the winter months and my parents decided that I couldn't do both gym & athletics during the summer months simply because they could not get me between the two activities.

I chose track and field. It was the biggest choice I had to make that year so it sort of sticks pretty clearly. I was in 5th Grade (11 years old for the non-Australian's)

Aww, you should have done gymnastics so you could be backflipping and triple vaulting your way to fame now.

It's funny you should say that, because their was a guy whom I used to beat in all the gym events who went on to represent Australia in the '96 Olympics. Of course he was 5'6" and I ended up being 6'1". Believe me, it's damned hard to do most of those apparatus when you get a bit taller - the pommel horse is an absolute bitch.

Aside from that, I made the fool mistake of starting work a few years later before I worked out that I probably could have been quite good. Didn't have any time on my hands for training after work life began *sigh* "Oh the what could have beens..." biggrin.gif

The upside is I can still back flip and somersault so they make a good party trick. wink.gif

I used to be quite good at the "flexed arm hang," one of those physical fitness things we did in elementary school where you basically just had to hold your chin up above the bar, sort of like a pull up, but you just hang there. Broke the school record one year! People said it was because I was such a lightweight, dunno. That probably would have been around 1984-85, I was about 9 or 10 then.

Oh, how I hated the flexed arm hang. I think my personal record was about a second. tongue.gif That, of couse, was later than 1984. In 1984, when I was 4, I loved gymnastics because I got to go to KinderGym with my sister wearing a most excellent leotard and matching tights.

WAY better than shotgunning a beer. But isn't it rather a bad idea to combine beverages and backflips? We've all heard about you Australians ...
