Most people I've talked to seem to think that 'Monkey Island' is the best 'Lucas Arts' Game. But of course, being my usual self, I have to be different. A REALLY good 'Lucas Arts' game in my opinion would be 'Full Throttle'. I know it's about some hard headed biker guy names 'Ben' but I still like it. I still play it through every once in a while, even if I already know the puzzles.

Ahh, I went off topic already.

Lucas Arts was supposed to come out with a sequal to Full Throttle, but they canceled it and decided to chuck more anoying 'Star Wars' Games. Great, now I'm going to get eaten alive by the hardcore 'Star Wars' fans now! But thats just my opinion.

Is anyone getting a little getting tired of the constant 'Star Wars' Games? The only Star Wars game I play every once in a while is "Dark Forces". I like the Movies but I think the games are going a little over board. I know that's why Lucas Arts was formed is to make 'Star Wars Games, but, come on. You can only make so many Star Wars games. This is my opinion, so please don't taunt me too much. biggrin.gif

No, I completely agree. The Lucasarts games that I love are Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Indiana Jones and the City of Atlantis, the entire Monkey Island series, Jedi Knight/Outcast and Knights of the Old Republic. Of those games, only three are Star Wars related. I couldn't care less about another remake of the battle of Hoth, or some such rubbish. I want to see more of Guybrush, and wish they hadn't scrapped the new Sam and Max.

I love the LucasArts adventures as well - too bad most of them aren't readily available to buy any more. I was really, really pissed off when the sequel to Sam & Max was cancelled, especially since it was almost finished. The only Star Wars game I ever liked was Knights of the Old Republic, and that wasn't even developed by LucasArts.

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

That's what I'm saying. I like the adventures Lucas Arts had made, and mabey a few Star Wars games. Once you put hours into a Star Wars game and finally beat it, they come out with another one. It's just tiring.

==Example of an Interview==

Lucas Arts: "Our new game is going to be different from the others we have been making, we want to make something NEW. It has different gameplay and it will add a new genre to the worlds of gaming!"

Interviewer: "New game-play? Wow! Tell us what the story line is about!"

Lucas Arts (Grin on his face): "I'm glad you asked! It has a 'STAR WARS' theme!"

Interviewer (Sarcastically): "Oh... Great..."

I agree. Full Throttle was FUNTASTC! I was really disappointed when they announced that the sequel had been cancelled.

I guess it's just a safer bet to release another stale Star Wars game -- as far as sales go -- rather than come up with something new.

Yea, coming up with something new is to much of a risk. Lets just make more Star Wars games so we don't have to go through any trouble!

I'd say 'Adventure Games' are coming to it's end, or close to it. I guess we just have to play 'Monkey Island' and 'Maniac Mansion' over and over again. And If they come out with another 'Mist' game? I will be SICK. I don't consider Mist to be a real adventure game.

I've always considered Mist to be a puzzle game. I've beaten the first three, and have Uru sitting in my wardrobe waiting for me to have more time to install it.

I love the Myst games. People always claim they don't have a plot, but this isn't true - it's just that most of it is revealed through visual clues, diary entries etc., rather than dialogue. I've always enjoyed the solitary, mysterious atmosphere of the games; other people find it to be a turn-off.

There are still quite a few adventure games around if you know where to look. The problem is that many of them are made by small independent developers and don't get a very wide release. Sites like Just Adventure and Adventure Gamers are a good source of information.

Whoo...can't believe I missed this thread the first time around.
Anyway, I've never taken much interest in LucasArts products outside of the Dark Forces series. I've always considered them to be a very mediocre developer that produces a slew of sub-par titles with one or two good ones mixed in. I've never taken the time to get into their adventure games, but that's mostly because I'm not a big fan of adventure games. Still, however, I'd say LucasArts would be a better publisher than developer. They should let other, more independent companies handle the Star Wars games.

I've only been able to play the Monkey Island series (which has been my very favorite series of games since I was seven) and Grim Fandango to be honest. I'm not in a position where I can get any of the other adventure games everyone always goes on about (and I am insanely jealous of those who have played them).

Which is why the cancellation of Sam and Max pissed me off so much.

I thought I'd finally be able to see what all the fuss was about and actually get meet these characters (figuratively speaking) instead of being left in the dark any longer... I consider myself as chiefly an adventure gamer, but I feel like there is an enormous gaping hole in my fandom that may possibly never be filled... sad.gif

And they need to make Monkey Island 5. It's been almost five years! They need to hop to it, already! More Guybrush Threepwood! More, I say! Fanfiction and other work can only sustain a fangirl's obsession for so long!

...I am so bleeding sick of Star Wars! yell.gif

I loved The Dig.

And Full Throttle.

Both Sam and Max's.

Rockin'. Old Lucas Arts Kicked ass.
Booze-fueled paragon of pointless cruelty and wanton sadism.

Glad to see that other people like Dark Forces. When I mentioned it in the Star Wars forum, no-one really commented on it. I LOVE that game. I don't care too much for its sequel Jedi Knight, although some of the levels were okay.... but the original Dark Forces was the perfect video game for me. I also liked how it had its own soundtrack, rather than rehashing themes from the movies.

I'd love to pick up a copy of it next time I'm in Australia. I wonder if they have a version that runs off Windows rather than DOS. That'd make it a lot easier to install and run.

Dark Forces' excellence is quite infinite. I do enjoy the Jedi Knight games that followed more, though, but that's just because they're a little closer to the type of action games that I prefer.

I missed out on Full Throtle, The Dig and the orrigional Dark Forces. As its a bit impossible to buy them, I'm succumbing to downloading The Dig atm. I'm about 90% now, and looking forward to playing it.
