Choose at random from the five options. How random is a human being really capable of being?

Based on a similar and suprisingly interesting experiment in the C&A forums.

I don't think I can be random sometimes. I obsessive-compulsively go for threes, fives, and sevens.

Or nines, when I need to get three portions of three...

I always go for twos or fours, but four is double the size and coolness of two, so therefore four it is.

When it gets higher I always go for seventeen, nineteen, twenty-two, and twenty-four. If it goes into triple digits I always pick something with those numbers in it.

Nine is usually only when I'm actually picking things up (like pieces of gum for example, I pick up three pieces three times). I have a couple of weird rituals like that for twos and fours also, like when I'm locking doors.

How I long to live in a world where options don't have to compete for the title of "best" just to appease some hokey sociology experiment...

Well this surely fell on its face. Last time it was tried, in the C&A forums, it ended up level, but only after a strange one-two effect as everybody chose the first two options to start with, then after a few days people apparently had some sort of a revelation and started voting the opposite way. Nobody wants the third option, for some reason.

(*this post made for absolutely no explainable reason, but to add a little more to it...counters Heccubus's stare with a wide-eyed, glazed-over one*)

*pokes Jane in the eyes*

Anyway, surely an experiment doesn't work if the candidates tell you why they chose what they chose? That ruins the idea of a coherent hypothesis throughout all the candidates, and just depends on personal preference.

I'm sorry, I couldn't think of anything smarter to say. sad.gif
