I didnt like Toy Story either. The animation was just way too clean and new for a kid who grew up on Don Bluth.

Tangled is one I saw more recently and I really enjoyed that. My first thoughts were "Bleh, girl movie" but it turned out quite nice.

It seems it already came out but Battle: Los Angeles. Now, I haven't seen it, and I hadn't heard of it until I was looking up movies that have been released to toss out some opinions on them. For this, I just have one request: Can aliens please just stop invading the planet for a while. I checked out a few of the trailers, and it looks like somebody took a bunch of these kinds of films and mushed them all together. Or maybe show the invasion from a different country. I'm sure it wouldn't sell in America because if it didn't take place here, we couldn't relate to it ... its just if they're going to give me the same kind of film, put some new ideas into it. Hell, what do you think about a movie set in the future where that is happening but its entirely from the point of veiw of another species or two (seeing as how a planet might not be limited to one intelligent form of life). Then at the end of the movie have it revealed that the invaders are dun Dun DUN us. Hey, I wonder if that's been done before. (And don't tell me Avatar. That should've been called Ferngully meets Pocahontas IN Spaaaaace)

Fast Five ... another one. Why are they making another Fast and the Furious? I didn't even know that a 4th had ever been out. I guess the movies are money makers, but I wouldn't know. The things are all about cars ... and the driving of cars ... really fast. Alright, I'll be honest and tell you that I didn't mind watching the first one. Not because it was a great movie, just enjoyable enough for me. But there's 5 of them? What the hell different could've actually happened in the five films? Argh ... my head hurts. Who thinks up these things, and why are they getting paid a bunch of money for it. How do you sell the same idea to the same people 5 times over. (Okay, so there's 20 some odd James Bond films out there. But they all had different stories and things. They weren't each almost entirely made up of a series of car chases and or car races)

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

I got to see the 4th Pirates of the Carribean at a midnight showing in 3D when it came out. It was a pretty together movie I think, and if you liked the others, than you will enjoy this one as well. A fun summer film.

I also got to see the movie Black Swan. Its a good movie. The last half hour was just freaky as all hell. Although its nothing near being a gory film, squeamish people beware. There's little things that might unsettle you quite a lot. There's a ton of symbolism and metaphor in the film. I suggest looking up a few articles or essays on the film that might help to explain some of the themes and whatnot. Read them with a grain of salt however, as some of them delve into things like systematic mind control. While I personally think such things are a possibility, I will remain skeptical about them actually being put into practise.

Hahh, Black Swan... nice. I haven't seen it yet, but I caught glimpses of its trailer and decided that I probably wouldn't have the stomach for that. But many of my friends are into dancing, hobbywise and professionally, so they got all pretty excited about it before even realizing what it would really be about. Thought it would be one of those classic dance movies. Hah... well, apparently it wasn't.

Really, I'm quite glad that it wasn't just another movie about dancing. There were lots and lots of other things going on. Themes, ideas, just loads of things. One of the few "dancing" films that I think really has some umph to it.
