I know this is in Chefelf's list, but I thought it deserved to be elaborated upon, and it has been mentioned before, but I think it deserves repeating... The names for the prequels are beyond ridiculous.

The names for the OT are inspired. They sound like real places. Alderaan, Dantooine, Tatooine... they sound elegant and mysterious and wondrous. Endor, Hoth.. they're like fantasy names, but with the prequels, they're drek...

Naboo---sounds like something you'd say to a baby to get it to laugh.
Padme---some kind of undergarment, or she's going through puberty.
Watto... I might forgive it, but again, it ends so flat. Is this from a song? I swore I've heard this name before?
Theed--- somebody's lisping. None of the Naboo names befit the settings or the "magesty" of the supposed place.
Coruscant is probably the only forgivable name, but that's only because it came extraneously from the Thrawn trilogy. If I recall correctly, Lucas begrudgingly used the name.
Jango the SNL character comes to mind...or it's the sound someone makes with lots of change in their pocket.
Geonosis How could this planet be named Geonosis when its inhabitants speak with clicks, whistles and grunts? Retarded.
Kamino KAMINO!? Lucas being a car-nut ought to have the sense NOT to use a name like this!!! It's an ugly car with an ugly name. It's the first thing I think of every time I hear the name. Stupid.

There's more...
Flying Ferret

Battle for the Galaxy--read the "other Star Wars"

All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

to cover the some of the same names...

Padme---sounds like a request (that i'd gladly help out with)
Theed---would that be a themame or thunflower theed?
Coruscant---particulary nice when warm with jam.
Jango---I call him Jenga (you know, the card game)
Geonosis---ah yes the first book of the Bible.
Kamino---sounds like a japaness brand 'muscle gain' formula for bodybuilders.

Isn't that a block game? rolleyes.gif

Yarael Poof - What an effeminate Jedi uses to wash up in the shower.
Jar Jar Binks - He catches a lot of crap, but think about it for a moment. "Jar Jar Binks". How could he NOT be an annoyingly stupid character with that name?
Mace Windu - Uh... Mace Windu.

Getting back on topic...

I thought the exact same thing in the theatre when they talked about this planet. Between that and the virgin birth I'm thinking that Lucas is becoming born again.

So true...

I rather like the name 'Coruscant'. It's not a real word, but it sounds like one. The word 'coruscate' means 'glitter', so presumably 'Coruscant' would mean 'glittering' - a fitting name for the Galactic capital. No wonder Lucas didn't like it, it's far better than anything he could come up with.

Other Prequel names I dislike:

Qui-Gon Jinn - nothing particularly terrible about it, but it's too much like Obi-Wan Kenobi - which was a pretty stupid name in the first place.
Yaddle (the female version of Yoda) - well, do I really need to explain this?
QUOTE
The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

QUOTE
Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

Actually, being an a jazz music afficianado, I kind of like the reference to legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt. cool.gif

How about Satchmo Strongarm as a character name? laugh.gif laugh.gif

What's amazing about this name is that absolutely nobody in the movie or in real life ever pronounces it the same way????

I swear to god that in Episode I: you hear a different prononciation of the name each time. Anyone concur. blink.gif

"Nute Ray-gun "

You mean Nute Gunray, right {not that it would make a differnece".

Didn;'t he play hockey for the Vancouver Canucks? tongue.gif

Great name..............for a white gansta rapper! cool.gif

Yeah, Anakin did plenty of that in Episode II {and I am sure Lucas did as well... ohmy.gif }

I could have lived my life, without knowing there was a female counterpart to Yoda.

God I hope Lucas, doesn;t have a love interest story revolving around Yoda and Yaddle planned for Episode II. Seeing Yoda doing Kung Fu was difficult to stomach already. :yuck:

.....Yoda and Yaddle... how stupid does that sound.......sounds like a Yiddish curse expression........... " yell.gif

to things that shit me!!!

1. Yodas cane! is on workers comp. or something? Padme does the same thing:
Padme: [lying on sand, in semi concusion] oh, maon, ahh, oh, no
Kiwi Clone: are yiew alright, aye?
Padme: [stands up] yeah, i'm fine, why?
[walks away]

2. there are two widley accepted pronunciations of SYMBIONT.
a. sim-bee-ent
b. sim-bey-aux-ent (you know the french sounding one)

Qui - Gon - Gin - Tonic says one to little Anikan, who has never heard the word, and repeats it with a question mark, but with the more educated frenchy pronunciation.

this was literally the ONE thing that annoyed me more than anything else in the PTs so far.

It pissed me off the first time i saw Ep1. and has been nawing away at me!!! I would seriously let everything else go if that hadn't been there!!!

Its ment to be: "Symbiont?" not "I think sir means a Sybiauuuunt!"
he's ment to sound like a curious kid not snooty waiter.
"I do believe sir is refering to the Chatauuuuuuw Le Feeeeeey."

I think it's meant to be "symbiotic". Of course, there is no telling with Mr. Lucas.
