My grandma likes to find ways to clean my room without permission. dry.gif Everytime I go awya on vacation, I come back, and it's clean! I hate it. It may seem like a mess to everyone else, but that is only an illusion! I know exactly where everything is. It's organized in my own way. After she cleans it, I can't find anything.

I have the same problem with my mother. What scares me is that she'll have free access to my room once I leave for college, and there's no way I'll be able to stop her from messing with anything.

I like to say "there's order in my chaos," but nobody seems to listen...

And here is where I tell a story that you would not believe...

When I was about thirteen, I used to keep my door locked at all times, whether I was inside or out, just to make sure only I could get in. This frustrated my mother, because she is the type who likes to barge into any room of the entire house anytime she likes. One morning before school, I was having a typical non-morning-person adolescent fit, and locked her out of my room while I huffily locked myself inside the bathroom to get ready. I don't remember why she wanted into my room that morning, but she went fully and completely mad.

She got a fuckoff huge hammer and beat my doorknob into submission.

The knob has never been replaced, so the lock doesn't work at all. Even if it did, it wouldn't make a difference because of all the abuse that door has taken over the years. At this point, my doorframe is broken and warped to the point where you don't even have to use the knob to open it, you can just push it a little and it'll swing right open.

I used to keep my door locked all the time. Problem is, all the doors in my house use the same key (for the bedrooms, toilet, bathroom, etc), and they all went missing one day...

The last time I locked my door was when I was 10, and I was mad at my dad about something. He took my door off its hinges for a month, and told me that if I ever locked it again he would take it off forever and make me watch him chop it into little tiny pieces. dry.gif

I've never had a door with a lock, but then again I don't have a problem with privacy. I don't like the idea of ppl going through my things, but I can't think of a reason for them to do it, so I don't really worry.

I hate it when people go through my things. I don't have anything to hide...well I do, but I'm clever enough not to hide it in my room! biggrin.gif

But stuff like year book signatures, for instance. My mum and dad always want to read my year book signatures at the end of the year, and ofcourse my friends write in all of these horrible sexual innuendos and other stuff found to be highly innapropriate by my parents. So I've taken to showing the yearbook to my parents as soon as I get it, and then get it signed the next day. smile.gif

I on the other hand have plenty to hide. While there's no point in trying to hide the large box of condoms thats suddenly appeared in my room, I'd like to keep all my stoner supplies hidden until I can get away.

Fortunatly, the parental rifling-through-stuff stops at my mum putting away clothes for me. Dad's not been in there properly for years, and my siblings are just outright banned. There's nothing cool in there anyway really...

All the things I need to hide are mainly on my computer...well, except for the big-ass kitchen knife I have hidden in my desk. That's been taken away a couple times in the past couple of years, but if she knows I have it back now, I think she just ignores it. I think saying, "It makes me feel safer" at one point after it was taken the last time must have helped a little.

That, and my notebooks. NOBODY touches my notebooks without my express permission!

I wouldn't if I could afford it, but due to a collection of stupid laws, I am considered legally an adult, but am unable to be classed as 'independant', and therefore do not qualify for rent assistance or study aid, and as such must remain at home. The upside is I have cheap internet and free food/washing.
