Wikileaks gets it's info from volunteers, so maybe we're only getting the really boring stuff. They're not hacking into government vaults and finding any top secret documents.

Jordan! Yo, how have you been?

And yeah if they hacked the super secret government files, they'd probably find the gossip from the area 51 scientists

"have you seen the man in black who has the really big butt? what's up with that?"

"scientist 20045 passed gas during the alien autopsy and tried to blame it on the alien. You're not fooling anyone dude."

They're actually talking about shutting it down. Americans are so fucking retarded. If I were the president or even a spook, I'd use WikiLeaks to discredit my rivals. How hard would that be? Releasing false information is the easiest thing ever. The American establishment should be looking at this as a god send. Now they can release false information, make it look credible and they don't have to involve the mainstream media.

And it's funny watching Americans talk about how these leaks are different from the Pentagon Papers or how Assange should be assassinated or how (get this) Assange should be put on trial for treason. It's like they're trying to outdo each other.

Yes indeed on the God issue. Some good points raised there.

As to the wikileaks business, well I am all for shaking up the military industrial complex. I just wish it were being done out of some sense of patriotism, or terrorism, or at least some ideal. Honestly, an ideal of any kind, even one I disagree with, would be preferable to a vendetta from a disgraced soldier angry at the "don't ask/don't tell" policy, his troubled high school life, etc etc yadda yadda. I suppose when they make the movie, someone will have murdered his wife, and he'll eb out for revenge or Freeeeeeeedom! or something. But for now while we know the actual story, it's just the usual selfish bullshit. When are we going to get one decent supervillain?

Actually he released it because he was tired of the mismanagement of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The rest is just disinformation. And I've read that Assange is doing this because he's a "narcissist." Yeah, him and everybody else on the net.
"I felt insulted until I realized that the people trying to mock me were the same intellectual titans who claimed that people would be thrown out of skyscrapers and feudalism would be re-institutionalized if service cartels don't keep getting political favors and regulations are cut down to only a few thousand pages worth, that being able to take a walk in the park is worth driving your nation's economy into the ground, that sexual orientation is a choice that can be changed at a whim, that problems caused by having institutions can be solved by introducing more institutions or strengthening the existing ones that are causing the problems, and many more profound pearls of wisdom. I no longer feel insulted because I now feel grateful for being alive and witnessing such deep conclusions from my fellows."

Any one notice how this isn't as cool as it once was? The latest wikileak exposed how Canada has an inferiority complex regarding the US.

http://www.ottawacit...5058/story.html

This makes us look like such losers, I'm sorry. There isn't much Canadian fist pumping pride in my city. But if there was any, this killed it.

Not exactly watergate material. Did the world really need to know this though? But I guess if the leak has any purchase whatsoever, then nobody actually cares what Canada thinks.

This is a fucking LOLOCAUST. The US, scene of rampant violence, poverty, torture, war profiteering, high imprisonment, etc, is assured that Canada has an inferiority complex because they laugh at us, and that Canada is a second or even third class nation because they don't tear ass around the world slaughtering people? (well, ok, they did go to Afghanistan where a lot of them never came back from... but now they're leaving, so while they were a super great country as long as they toed the line, now, all of a sudden, they have an inferiority complex because they listen to the will of their people) LOL sure, guys. It's not that they find the idea of some of the stuff we do to be laughably stupid, it's that they feel inferior and wish they were more like us. They cite Canadian TV shows that poke fun of the war on Islam, and, gasp! They depicted our secret kidnapping and torture program in a bad light? It must be because they're jealous of it. Harper is probably drawing little doodles of water boarding right now with a wistful little smile on his face and a sigh on his lips and visions of genital electrocution dancing in his head.

Give me a break. The only place that argument has ever held any water is in gay rights where, indeed, a lot of the gay populations biggest opponents only seek to make life hard for homosexuals because of their own closeted desires.

The inferiority complex stems from standing in the shadow of the USA's powerhouse culture. Canadian artists, for instance, are not considered to have 'made it' unless they are big in the US first. Once they achieve status down south, they usually immigrate and don't look back (neil young, michael j fox, pamela anderson, jim carrey, mike myers, justin beiber, william shatner, keanu reeves, chirsophter plummer, matthew perry, james cameron, kiefer sutherland, leslie nielson, and the list goes on). US culture is the cool culture. Add to that, in the global political arena, our voice is pretty insignificant. Nobody cares what our politicians think, nor can they name them without google searching them.

That is where it comes from, not all that nonsense you stated.

Wow I hadnt realized just what a big deal the cultural and artistic issue was. Never really thought of that, but it does make sense. Thanks for Leslie Nielsen, by the way. The US certainly does have a lot of the best arts production going on here so I can see why there'd be some envy in that field... My point with that sarcastic rant though was that you have to look at it in context. Canada just ended their commitment in Afghanistan in the face of public criticism and mounting casualties, and against the wishes of the US government. So the State Dept folks wrote some bad notes about Canadians, and claim that they left Afghanistan because they have penis envy. I disagree. If Canada was that envious of the US, they'd have ignored their population's outcry, and hung around in Afghanistan long after they knew it was time to go, because that's what we'd do down here. And if they'd done that just to impress Bush or Obama, they'd be wankers.

I personally believe that the fact that Canada got out of Afghanistan shows that they have a stronger and more accountable democracy then the US does, and the fact that they find our torture programs and persecution of Muslims etc to be subjects for ridicule shows better moral fiber, not envy of them.
