Ninja Gaiden 2

Humourous in places, feels a little forced, maybe? Still funny though

edit: I think now marks the stage where I'm so used to the new intro, the old style ones seem alien to me...anyone else getting this?

I feel it was one of the funniest reviews he has done in a long time. Had me in stitches from start to end.

I chuckled quietly throughout the whole thing, and enjoyed it therefore. It was good.

I agree with him on most points, I've only played the demo of NG2 though as I don't have the money to be spending on games I'm never going to fully complete. But it seems like the flaws from the original are still present, poor level design, crap camera and very 'hax' sort of enemies who despite you best efforts manage to get in some random attack from out of nowhere to mess up your perfect acrobatic slicing and dicing.

I also don't like the way how Ryu insists on performing a number of attacks for one press of a button either, I like either one slash per hit, or loads and loads whilst I'm mashing. Like Devil May cry.

I liked it very much. But I am seriously addicted to ZP so possibly I'm not a good judge. By the way, the ones with the new intro seem longer to me than the older ones (which is of course very welcome).

The very first one I have seen was Oblivion, which was about a game I played very much. Which spelled double impact. I almost laughed out loud in my office here, so I had to pause every 15 secs to not draw attention. wink.gif And yes, I was addicted at once. And I don't regret a thing.

But, I clearly remember that I thought it was over too soon. It ended with a lot of things unsaid (I thought). But nowadays the reviews feel more 'complete' to me if that makes sense. And I like the new title, rocks. Although gone are my dreams of one of my bands ever appearing in his intros/outros (yea right).

I agree with the "unfinished" thing. When I watched the older ones it always felt strangely unfinished. Since The Escapist things seem to wrap up more properly.

Anyway, this one was just as amazing as the others, nothing made it stand out, but that's not even slightly a bad thing.

That intro/outro music is still an unspeakable abomination.

I didn't find this particular review very funny, although it got the point across better than most. I like the part where he is embarrassed to be its target audience. I too am embarrassed.
When in doubt, plead sarcasm.

I still miss the intro/outro music choices.

And I will miss them until the misc. noise that NOW brings us in and out of ZP somehow becomes funny. Vid feels incomplete without it to me.

I like the intro music. I wasn't sure about it at first, but now it really gets me geared up to watch them.
Has anybody else got any thoughts about the game itself?
On the bit about being embarassed about being it's target audience, it's quite true. There's far too much of the immature Dead or Alive influence going on there.

Agreed...though "everyone knows pirates are better" was really funny for some reason.

I understand his stated reason for "own" music very much , being myself somewhat in the music biz. People I know got sued because of friendly featuring of artists they like inside their web videos. Someone used some popular song inside his web video comedy thing and had to pay like 10.000 Euros to the singer's major label.

And, own music makes ZP look more grown up, I mean, every TV show has a theme (not random intro/outro music). He looks less fanish now but like a serious program.

(one of the best there is, too. Sorry. Fanboy mode off)

The whole argument for and against the music has many different good points. The older music was always fresh and different, and sometimes funny. However, searching for appropriate songs, ripping the five seconds that you want and then remembering never to use it again is likely to be a tiresome process.
Meanwhile, the new intro doesn't sound bad, it's new and fresh. But it won't always be new and fresh. Eventually we'll all get sick of it or just ignore it. More likely, it will just be a background noise before the ZP review or just a bit you skip.
It doesn't really effect the review much except in professionalism.
I'm interested to know what people outside of the FR forum think about it.

I don't know why I don't like Ninjas. I always think of them as a bunch of arogant attention whores.

I don't like that guy, what was his name...tomonubi? Totonubi? Tubey? Tommey? Johney? Y'know, that guy with long hair, sunglasses and extremely ugly face. Whatever his name was. Though of course, all videogame deveopers have their own particular issue.

I skip it aswell as a matter of fact. The only TV show i don't want to skip the Intro was The fresh Prince of Bell-Air.
