"I've an" interest also. Hope everyone is dry and well.
The remainder of the storm blew through Birmingham yesterday. Rained 10-12" here, I got some video of trees blowing about and the rain coming down. Which was darned horizontal as you all know.
the power was out most of the day, so that was exciting. (10am - 8pm. The power co on the phone said it would take 120 hrs.) We got a reprieve from work for two days, and things look to come back to normal by Monday. Of course I haven't left the house yet. Watching the all-night coverage night before last was captivating.
Reiner, Amber-Nicole; certainly hope you all fared it well. Of course watch for downed power lines! Hopefully there's little if any structural damage.

Anyway. I'm alive. Lots of trees down around the house. We only have power because we're on a different company that doesn't come out of Pensacola. Pensacola has been REALLY fucked up. My town could be without power for a month because we run off of Pensacola. Chelco is in the works of making a deal to sell power to Gulf Power though, and if they works out, things will be working much sooner. A few shops here and there in town are running off of generators, but for the most part, it's all dead. The roof is gone on my dad and grandfather's shops. They were in the same building. So money is going to be a little tight right now, but we do have insurance. My dad runs a computer store, so alot of his equipment is ruined. The main issue now is getting his dial-up ISP back online before we start losing customers. We've found a place to rent temporarily and work out of until we figure this mess out. I'm just happy none of us got eaten by all the tornadoes.
And Janey, you'll be happy to know that all of the kitties survived! The smallest kitten decided she wanted to venture out once the storm had passed, but we were still getting 40 mph winds. It nearly picked her up off her feet, and she ran back inside and hid. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that we're safe.

Great report. I can sense the kitten's veiled delight at she returned to safety. So happy for you to have power, and hope the best for your guys' success through the storm.
I made a little picture as I rode the storm out. Glad we didn't have it as hard as many.
as I fought with the decision of watching or hearing survivor coverage hooked to the car, the lights flashed. in ten minutes, power was on to stay. (yay)

Speaking of catastrophes... Of course this is nothing compared to your plight Amber-Nicole, but we had a mini-earthquake here in Poland just an hour ago (5 in Richter's scale).
The problem is, there aren't supposed to be any earthquakes here and there haven't been any so far in my lifetime. So this was kind of a strange experience for me.

It would be. I've never experienced an earthquake at all, and think it would be kind of freaky. And if you aren't expected to get them there, then your buildings wouldn't be built with them in mind. How'd they hold up?

Well, it was very, very mild as I said. They say there are crack in some buildings which may deepen with time, and some flowerpots may be broken but no actual damage. But I hope it does not repeat. It was well, a weird sensation.
Funny thing is, if you even had any damages, your insurance company would not cover it, becauase they just don't have it included in the circumstances covered by the polic- it just never occured before, and nobody thought it would be necessary.
