A question out of curiosity:

Apart from Mr. Croshaw, does any of you actually make games (AGS, IF, whatever)?

If so, add a link there!

I dabble with RPGMaker.... can't give you a link though as it seems that halfway through my projects I have an epiphany along the lines of "My god! What in the name of Jesus jackrabbit Christ am I doing??" and turf the whole thing into the recycle bin. wink.gif
I'm not pessimistic; I've just realised that the light at the end of the tunnel is an incoming train.

Ah, ye olde bigge turf the whole thing in the rec bin thing. Happens to many of us (and, if I recall correctly, even to Mr. Croshaw, talking about the first draft of 7 Days a Skeptic).

Anyone with a more constructive story?

I've done that a lot. So much that I'm pretty sure my current ideas are the Ones. My problem is that I'm completly inexperienced and I really have too much to do right now, too many games to play, comics to read, movies to watch, that I may not have the time for that for a few more years.

Everybody has ideas, nobody has any product. It was like that about one year ago and it's still like that. Bunch of lazy cats we are.

I've made a couple of games but they're kind of in-jokes among another web community. There is another that I'm half-heartedly/arsed working on which is partly inspired by Yahtzee's fascination with history that is set in a 19th Century European country in a time of revolution - but it's pretty high concept, more story than game, and I doubt that it will ever be completed.

Mhhhh.... sounds interesting, tell us more!

For the others.... no-one with some finished games? Don't be shy! To break the ice, I'll post mine (short-insipid thing in AGS)

Oh no, since this is almost entirely in the concept stage I'm keeping schtum. I'm no vaporware arsehole.

I was thinking of doing a game using AGS...but my ideas all seem to revolve around people stuck in a haunted house, or in a lab full of zombies.

Ok, it wasn't original before Yahtzee did it...but he somehow managed to make them without them being the lamest games ever...I don't think I could do that.

Nuh-uh, you are lucky! I found a game maker game I made when I was a kid. I think I made it when I was... 9 year old? Anyway, behold! Inspired the books of Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman, -possibly- taking place in the universe of the Deathgate!

What a bastard I have been. Not knowing what "all rights reserved" means and using copyrighted music and story. Oh well.

EDIT: Oh btw, to all you fans there! I am doing part two, which actually has self-made sprites and 3D effects (and maybe a story too?)! It is a sunday project, so I work when I feel like it as I have my bigger game project too.

A free cowbell and name into the credits of Deathgate 2 to the person who finds all the three secret levels without aid. Remember that google won't help you. Not this time.

WEEEE found even the third one!!!

The 3 secret levels can be found this way (START OF SPOILER):

second stage: touch the cloud on the right
stage before boss stage: kill the green monster and jump slightly on the right. There is a invisible platform somewhere, use it to reach the grey-stone block
boss stage: after defeating the boss (or maybe even not beating him), touch the second water pipe

END OF SPOILER

And now my cowbell!!!

p.s.: that's quite a nice game for a 9 year old boy

You're a 9-year-old boy? blink.gif
