COBNAT, of course. If I make a sculpture, do I give it the right to walk and talk?

Well you do have a RIGHT too... but weither you can do it or not is questionable.

QUOTE (Otal Nimrodi @ Jan 28 2006, 04:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well, presumably, I do. And I would know. I made it.

It's just an example, taken as a given, for the sake of argument, that people were created by God. Which I don't believe, but, as I said, just assume.

If you read another post I made, God didnt know what he was doing when he started out, it probebly took him billions of years before he knew how to create life by waving his hand and it might take us a billion years too.

You're not up to date regarding our current knowledge in genetic engeneering, aren't you?

Right. Plus that would be super creepy.

And it's easy to imagine a minor god who intervenes when they can, and does their best to look out for you, but can't always help- more flawed, human gods, or saint/goddess in this case, have a ready made explanation for why there is evil in the world- they can't stop it. But it feels more comforting to have a weaker person on your side who will do their best to help you than to have an infinitely powerful person who just doesn't care.

Is that why you have a Brighid's Cross as your avatar?

Thing is, the fact that he didn't know what it was when he started out doesn't make it any less relevant that the fact that we look like 'him', or possibly 'her', doesn't give us the right to be 'him'. When the virgin Mary's face appeared on that grilled cheese sandwich, did it give the sandwich the right to give birth to Jesus? Just another example.

I wonder which version of "God only knows" (The Beach Boys'; Brian Wilson's; David Bowie's) is The Lord's favorite?

I wonder which offended him more: Joan Osborne's "What if God was one of us" or Weird Al Yankovic's "What if God smoked Cannabis"?

The beachboys, that's a good song. I wish they kept doing PET SOUNDS tracks. NOthing beats that record, well, nothing THEY made beats that record.

I think God thinks all our music sounds like shit. When I was really young, and still went to church. I over heard my dad and the pastor talking about how lame church music is nowadays. I agree too. The pastor said "I'm sure the effort pleases God, but I'm also sure he thinks it sounds like crap".

The question is, does God hate the song 'Hey, this is God'.

What, no-one's heard of it?

Or "There Goes God" by Crowded House,
while in the never heard of category.

Praise band musician here with tons of choral experience.
I'm sure God appreciates earnest effort, no surprise there.

Some of the old classical pieces were really great, like the canticles and the aves. My grandma goes to this church and they have a nun... just one of them... and she doesnt even dress like a nun - its really stupid. Anyway, she plays the organ and sings. She sounds like sombodys stabbing her repeatedly. Not only that, but she plays the's organ songs that sound like creepy circus music. I wish she'd play that one song capt Nemo played in the old 2000leages under the sea or whatever.

More to the point, does he enjoy the songs people at pentacostal churches make up about him?

I mean, at some point, doesn't he go "Okay, what do you want from me?"?
"YOU'RE MISSING A PERIOD. YOU THINK IT'S FUNNY, DON'T YOU? YOU THINK IT'S FUNNY THAT YOU FUCK WITH GRAMMAR? WELL, FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MISSING PERIOD! I HOPE IT MEANS YOUR SLUTTY, NON-PUNCTUATED WAYS HAVE GOTTEN YOU TEEN-PREGNANT!"
