I just donwloaded the definitive edition of ep.IV and was watching the last Death Star sequence, and was wondering what Lucas changed between the Original movie and the new edition DVD because this sequence seemed alto longer, and may have included scenes I've never seen before in my life....what are they? if any?
*Han shooting first wthout Greedo shooting at all, is AWESOME! (damn you Lucas)

I have never understood what's wrong with Greedo shooting first, mean, there's so much you could worry about with the SE, and people choose THIS?
Because it totally removes any traces of Solo's character development. I'm sure this is explained in more detail in Chef's articles.

I made a thread, guys, labeled: Lets reason, Lucas, you dumbass.
It is about the whole Greedo, Han, shooting thing.

Why bother with this scene?
Well for one it was unnecessary. Lucas explains that Han killing Greedo "tarnishes" his character somehow when he wantedHan to be a hero. So many fans say "this is character development!"
But the fact is that in that situation Han was simply defending himself. Greedo was going to shoot him anyway (he didn't have the money, his only other choice would be to run and get shot in the back).
What's so stupid is why Greedo thought he could take on Han if he missed from 1 foot away and his blaster pointed right at him. Stupid.
If Lucas really wanted to "exonerate" our hero, he should have had Han weep and say a prayer over Greedo's dead body, or edit the line so he says "give this money to his family for the funeral" rather than "sorry about the mess".
*watches Lucas do this for the Super Duper Special Ed Edition...*
Anyway, most of the SE changes can be ignored, but this one stands out since it's an important scene (one of our heroes almost bought it, but proved himself made of stern enough stuff to survive). It's a symptom of the crappiness and/or irrelevance of the SE changes...
