Just finished Neuromancer, a thoroughly interesting book with a lovely lovely bleak view of the future and our chances to change things in the universe. Made me smile, made me feel sadness, made me grin like a fool.

Next up: Count Zero.

I'm reading the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", currently on the fourth book of the trilogy of five.
And started reading them before the movie was mentioned around here. And, might I add even without having seen it: it sucks. It has to.

My premonitory capacity was right. Although it sucked even more than I predicted.

Lunar Park by Bret Easton Ellis

It's good--better than I thought it would be--but not as good as his other stuff, in my opinion. How are you liking it?

hey, sorry to barge in rather late in the topic, but i had a question.

at my job, i and my colleagues have PLENTY of time to read. i average about 6-700 pages a week, and im a slow reader. over the past 2 years ive read nearly 150 books. im not trying to brag; though ego stroking is nice. but is this a lot?
the only people i talk to about books are my co-workers so im a little out of touch with the norm. how much does the average person read?

anyway, right now im reading machiavelli's art of war. i just finished foucault's pendulum, and the age of reason, tomorrow (probably) im starting the use of pleasure.

I'm only about 50 pages in. The first party scene was great, but i've got reservations about Ellis casting himself in the lead role in the narrative. If you finish it, no plot points please!!

I'm sure it's above the norm but if you have a lot of time to read it's probably in line. Since moving to New York I've been reading WAY more than in previous years. With all the time on the subway there's nothing else to do. I don't tend to read anywhere but on the subway.

I'm also not that speedy a reader but I seem to read about a book a week or so, of course depending on the length.

Finally read Haunted. It was good, but the short stories were the best part.

Also reading Naomi by Douglas Clegg.

i could see that. in on writing steve king recommends reading whenever you are waiting in line, on the bus, sitting in the car etc... that always seemed like a good idea to me but i never liked carrying books around. also, i live in a college town (bloomingotn IN) and i think one would expect to see students reading their little heads off all over the place; but i rarely do...
i dont tend to read anywhere but work. i always thought i had an advantage on most people in that i could read and work at the same time. but i guess if readings important to you, you can find or make the time.

if i may impose on you fellow readers a bit more, where do you like to read and when; how fast can you read?
