Daylight savings time is just a bitch and there's no good reason for it anymore. Extra light doesn't matter that much, because we were slowly gaining it anyway; you notice a sudden loss of light in one area of your life much more than you notice its increased gradual gain in another.
In the winter, you shift the day later, so even though it was already getting dark early, suddenly it's 4pm and pitch-black and cold, cold and you still have stuff you need to do even though you'd rather be huddling at home with a hot cocoa. Now isn't so bad, but when you have to get up ungodly early as I do, it makes a big difference. It was getting warm and light in the mornings, and now it's going to be cold and dark again. Thanks Ben Franklin!
