Hey guys recently downloaded a crap load of some of the best arcade games from the 80's and 90's for my xbox. My favorites include:

XMen-unfreakingbelievable game!!!! You can play up to six players on the arcade booth but only four on the xbox, still damn good. bottomline wicked side scrolling beat em up!

Spiderman-pretty much same as Xmen but with a twist! You sometimes play as a smaller sprite of your character to climb up buildings and advance through certain areas of a level.

Marvel Superheroes-Juggernaut vs. the Hulk nuff said!

Art of Fighting 3-one of the most underrated 2D fighters ever. So many moves excuted in beautiful motion during gameplay. The character models are large and the animations rival if not beat street fighter 3.

Other notable mentions
Narc
WWF Superstars
King of Fighters Series
Metal Slug

So whats your favorite arcade games?

Metal slug: 2nd greatest shoting game ever. (first place is reserved for gunstar heroes) but a solid pick.

KOF: To advanced for it's time \ idiocy of general public. SNK stuff remains for the hardcore elements, although Last blade deserves an honorable mention for combining their classic mix of art, storytelling, and fighting.

Narc: Hilarious these days. The whole 'winners don't take drugs' shite, and the really dodgy narcotics (check out the size of the hemp in the lab) date it a little.

Xmen: Okay, now I'm confused. On the Konami arcade it was always 4 players (same arcade setup as simpsons and TMNT), what's the 6 player version? And how does it connect to the X-box besides Raven softwares X-men legends? In fact how does that connect with the spiderman arcade? (linkage would really help here)

But in terms of other unmentioned titles: Daytona (4 player setup only), Knights of the round (wonderfully dated, but the leveling up is nice), and Smash TV.

There was a six and four player arcade booth designed for Xmen. The xbox emulated version of the game is the four player variation because of the four controller ports.

Sorry, in terms of how these games connect to the xbox, well i have a modded xbox. i have one dvd with about 4 to 5 thousand arcade games on it. im sure there a few ppl on this forum who have this, its called MAMEOX. Theres also quite a few CPS 1 and 2 Emulators for the xbox and a couple NEO GEO emulators for it as well.

I recently played Marvel Vs. Capcom. It was great, but I totally got my ass kicked. Anyone know if there's a copy of that for any home system? Or a ROM?

Oh, Metal Slug, Metal Slug! I only ever find that in French campsites, and since that's when I have the least money, and only a fortnight, I never get to enjoy it properly. I fully anticipate finding a booth when I go in a month, and I eagerly await it.

That said, I'm not in enough arcades these days to remember anything.

Anyone wants the roms mentioned?

Just before we breach anymore rules, you can track down legal versions of both those titles for the sega saturn, both versions run on the expanded ram cart and are damn fine (unlike the horrific playstation ports). However if that's too much trouble (or you just don't want to let a saturn into your house) Metal slug 3 is available for the X-box and PS2 at a close to bargain bin £20. Or MVC2 is available on the Dreamcast

But since marvel vs capcom is there, Capcoms often forgotten gothic fighitng game Darkstalkers, (or night warriors, depending on the verison) is well worth tracking down.

Dash: I was really asking about a link to a shot of the 6player konami cabinet.

Ah the arcades. I've always liked the shooters better then anything else though. I remember one time the Magnum Force machine was broken in a way that it gave out free credits. A group of kids were just clustering around that thing untill closing time finally came. Man was that manager pissed.

But I do like the 2d fighters so much also. One time in a casino, my mum just let the arcade room babysit me for about 40 bucks (she was making a killing at the BlackJack tables). I saw Soulcaliber 2 and fell in love. I singlehandedly took over the world in conquest mode, and wasted a good weekend in the prossess.

Good times good times.

I remember the old six player xmen game, we used to have it at our local cinema. Though they got rid of it when I was 8 or so. I never got a game of 6 people together sad.gif

And I have to say that I absolutly loved Knights of the Round. That was brilliant. That and Golden Axe 2. They just don't have arcade games in arcades anymore.

After awhile the screens became misaligned, which made it hard to judge ranged attacks. Didn't much matter, as I played as Collosus.

That's where I first discovered that Nightcrawler was my favorite character!

I also need to remind you of The Simpsons and TMNT:Turtles in Time for beat-em-ups, and Street Fighter 2 for fighters.
