Off I go into the next term of school in...30 minutes. It's also occurred to me that I don't have a book yet since the booklist has mysteriously disappeared from any retrievable place. I wonder if someone will complain since it's kind of unfair to expect us to psychically know what books to buy. huh.gif

Two weeks ago. Actually, I had my finals early on Monday, so I had two full weeks. Otherwise, I would've only had one.

eruhm...

spring quarter (11 weeks + 1 week of finals), break (1 week), summer quarter, ja?

So spring was last quarter, and now it's summer after one week of break and one week of finals.

(*headtilt*)

You mean you don't just go from August to May, and then get June and July off? Where do you live?

er...August to May would be a long quarter. blink.gif That'd mean that you have to go to school for four years to get one year of credit.

It's broken up into:

fall (11+1), break(1), winter (11+1), break(1), spring (11+1), break(1), summer (11+1 ?), break(?), repeat

Summer's a little shorter than the other quarters, though, so it might be 10+1 or 9+1, and the final break's a little longer.

More like four years to get a minimum of twenty-three credits...

Well, yes, depending on your credit system, something like that. Here, it'd be something like 40-50 credits on average, and 4 credits being the minimum (taking nothing but one PE course a quarter).

Are you talking about school, university or other?

Its been a couple of years now, but our school system is something like:

1st term:starts at Begining of Feb, lasts 10 weeks
2 week break
2nd term:10weeks
2 week break
3rd term-10 weeks
2 week breack
4th term-10 weeks
6 weeks break. Next year begins in February.

Uni on the other hand is quite different. Usually we start in march, go for 7 weeks, have a week off, then go for another 7 or so weeks, have some exams, a few weeks off, then second semester is the same. At the end of the year, we have about 3 and a half months off.

Here our terms are four nine weeks. We don't have a break between terms except for a week for Spring Break. We get a few weeks off for Christmas and Thanksgiving stuff, which I suppose qualifies as winter and fall breaks. We get out in May, go back around August 6 or 7.

It must be strange not having your school years coincide with actual years, but I guess if your used to it it makes more sense.

Right, I'm thorougly confused...

As far as I can tell, what was school for me until it ended a month ago was September through to December, January through to Easter, and Easter through to about July, with a weeks break in the middle of each. Two weeks break between each term, and a six week break in the summer.

Of course, since I've just done my A levels, that's nothing like how its worked for me. I ran off in late May, been doing exams ever since, then soon as I've done my last exam on Friday, hedonism on a grand scale... laugh.gif

Simey, it's uni.

Also, the summer quarter turns out to be 8 weeks plus 1 week of finals for me.

Our system is pretty much exactly the same, except the public schools (like the one I went to) do six periods of six weeks. I think it's usually the private schools that do four nine-week periods.
