QUOTE (Lachie Dazdarian @ Jun 6 2007, 10:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I got that. Shees, I'm not brain-dead. My point is...What would police do if they found a house in which they can't enter for 5 days?

Spoilers...

Oooops.... cool down. The police didn't try to blow up the door of the house for five days. They spent the first three days looking for the guy who had the keys. During the 4th day (if I'm not mistaken) they found the corpse of the guy who had the keys. Only in the 5th day they tried to enter the house by force. So, the police really took only a few hours trying to breach the house.

Satisfied?

Nostaw was faster with the explanation than I. So all that's left is this:
QUOTE (Lachie Dazdarian @ Jun 7 2007, 03:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The better, more intelligent way to set up the plot would be by putting the house in some time loop or something, so that for the outside world these 5 days would be few hours.

No. That'd be plain stupid. Ask yourself, where does that element come from and what does it have to do with the whole story? Out from the top of someone's head, and nothing, obviously. Seems like another one of them very convenient "wizard did it" plothole-arresters.

If the police had to enter some house, they wouldn't go looking for a guy who had the keys for three days.

But they didn't have a pressing need to enter the house, at least at the start. Police would check out homes, workplaces, friends' and family members' houses, local hotels, airports etc long before they get to "Creepy old mansion" None of the characters told anyone where they were going, (with the possible expection of AJ, I suppose). Jim was with friends sneaking out for a dare, who probably wouldn't tell anyone for a while so they wouldn't get into trouble. The police had no idea where Trilby was. Philip's friends/colleagues wouldn't expect him back for months. Simone arrived early at the house to get a look around, and the camera crew would probably think she'd never turned up. There was a nice bit of exposition telling you this fairly early on in the game.

Mhm, I'm starting to see where your problems with the plot originated from.

Weren't they looking for people a bit before Trilby got in?

But, yeah, it's not like the plot of these games are supposed to make too much sense...I mean, if the police are looking around...why can't everyone yell out "We're in here!"...but whatever.

Anyway, Yahtzee was obviously inserting a bit of social commentry here, about how the government isn't spending enough money on adaquately training it's police force...no, really, that's what he is doing...

Or in TN when they rescue the slave and the captain says something like "There's no honour in being an Englishman in these days." (*wink-wink* *nudge-nudge*)

Good point.

Hmmm...notice that only white people survive? On the ultra-special edition, Trilby doesn't wear a Trilby, he wears a KKK hood.

If you play the games and pay attention to every last detail, you'll also notice that black people aren't the only ones dying.

Yes, I understand that 100% of the black characters that Yahtzee introduces die, but there are also far fewer black characters than white.

White
  1. Siobhan
  2. Trilby
  3. Adam
  4. Serena
  5. Philip
  6. AJ
  7. Malcolm
  8. Theo
  9. ...so on and on

Black
  1. Slave guy (sorry, can't be arsed to look his name up)
  2. Barry Chahal
  3. Abed Chahal

Simply put, far more white people die than black people. So even if you're looking at percentages (nerd), I'd say that since there are more white characters, it makes sense that a higher percentage of them would survive.

I doubt he was serious when he posted that, so there's no need to get all worked up.

Did I come across as all worked up? I'm not, I was simply supplying a counterpoint.
