What are you saying Jejef? Because all the Star Wasr characters with tails were pretty lame.

S.P.Crumb, Jar Jar, Jabba. The dinobot or whatever it was called.
SE dewbacks. Ewoks.

Wait, I'm sure there's lots more lame stuff I'm missing here.

dinobot?

That thing in the garbage room. Ok, I'll look it up. Slimy tentacle it says. But of course, that's the script definition before Kenner/Hasbro got the advance copy LFL press release.

It has a name. I'm pretty sure it has a tail.

what really definines the lines between believable technology and unbelieveable technology?

Why will we let lightsabers, floating cities, anti-gravity, and TIE fighters flying in the atmosphere pass,

while R2 flying or someone standing out in the vacuum doesn't make the cut?

I don't think the physics in the PT was that far-out, I think that the major transgressions just made them glare out.

I believe that, if it were not for Jar Jar, whiney Anakin, horrible voice acting, ridiculous plot elements, Greivous, etc, then we might actually have enjoyed seeing R2 fly, in the same way we ignore any inconsistancies in the OT

Edit: forgot the question mark.

They didn't contradict. R2 flying would be a nice wtf moment at the end of Jedi, as he rockets off to who knows where? (Like Vader did at the end of the first movie.)

Personally, I'd have figured R2 should have hovered in JEDI once threepio started getting all the elevated attention.

That's not the point that bugs so many people about R2 flying. Within the screwy realm of SW, the "science" of R2 flying works just fine. It's the asinine plot development aspect of it...he never does it in the OT, and there's no reason for him not to have, since we see him in a bunch of tight spots where such an ability would come in handy. Then all of a sudden in the PT, he can fly and basically act like a "living" version of Batman's utility belt...what the hell? It's beyond cheesy, and reeks of a filmmaker who has no idea how to advance the story along.

There are some things that DO surpass the realms of ALL logic, even with SW "science." Surfing on lava comes to mind...

hover technology is an inconsistancy now?

are you kidding?

it's meant to be a society technologically superior to our own... so you can take a few liberties: jet packs, ships that handle like f-15s in space, hover tech, etc.

but no matter how advanced you get there are things that never change... walking in the desert makes you thirsty, getting kicked in the nuts hurts alot, loosing your head makes you die, hanging a foot or two over an ocean of lava will kill you no matter what your standing on because the ambient temerature exceeds 3000degrees which is only 1000 times more than humans seem comfortable with, but hey...

the PT forces unneccesary bullshit at you... river through planet core etc...

oh wait... i've had this conversation...
