Fox news and Deucaon agree: US Army a rape based organization

It's not often that the words "agree with Deucaon" are thrown around here. Indeed, this might be a historic first. And for this historic first, we need to take a look back to this thread where Deucaon suggested that people joining the US Military (and possibly all other militaries, and possibly firemen) do so only in order to rape others, or possibly to be raped themselves. A good laugh was had, and Civ joked that Deuc should move to the states to become a ridiculous faux-journalist. Que This interview on Fox wherein it is suggested that women in the military should expect to get raped, and that we should not have "bureaucracy" in place to handle people who are "being raped too much". No word on whether they approve of the bureaucracy in place to make sure that women in the military are getting just the right amount without overfilling their quota.

Lucas Blames YOU!

Quote

George Lucas Blames 'Star Wars' Critics for Killing Series
Sci-fi filmmaker hurt by harsh feedback from some fans about the prequels
By David Eckstein

For any fans awaiting future "Star Wars" films from George Lucas, it's going to be a long wait. The creator of the famed series says he's not going to make any more of these movies and that he's essentially retiring. And for that he blames the harsh feedback from certain fans.

"Why would I make any more when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?" he tells The New York Times.

Lucas continues to bash these critics despite the fact that their appreciation for the series helped it generate $4.4 billion in worldwide box-office sales.

"On the Internet, all those same guys that are complaining I made a change are completely changing the movie," Lucas says. "I'm saying: 'Fine. But my movie, with my name on it, that says I did it, needs to be the way I want it.'"

Lucas drew strong attacks from "Star Wars" fans for characters like Jar Jar Binks and for digital additions to the DVDs and re-releases of the six-part series.

"I'm moving away from the business, from the company, from all this kind of stuff," he says.
Well if surrounding yourself with yes-men, firing anyone who doesn't do their job your way or agree with you, change scripts over weekends and hand it to the actors just before they deliver said lines after spending weekend learning the old lines in a green featureless void and expect great results after first take, to make prequels for a trilogy you've taken no notice of dialogue-wise, doesn't point a big fat finger squarely at you the viewer, I don't know what does.

Is America on its way to becoming a dictatorship?

Don't know who really frequents the area much anymore but, have you heard of the National Defense Authorization Act?

Well, last week this bill got passed in the Senate 93 - 7. It basically labels the United States of America and the World a battle ground, and allows the military to act with imputiny. If made into law, this will legally allow the US military to arrest, detain indefinitely, torture, and execute anyone in the world (including any US citizen) without due process if anyone in the military even suspects that a person is more or less against the United States Government. They can even attack allied nations outright, and are free to assassinate at will. And it's all LEGAL. It even takes away such things as the right to remain silent, and also allows Federal troops to police our country. Yes they've been experimenting with that in some areas, and now they will be allowed to do it all over the country. And all of these actions that can be taken, are pretty much up to the judgement of the military. Never mind that pretty much all of this is actually unconstitutional or anything like that. It is written in such a way that it overrides the constitution.

Obama has already stated he plans on vetoing it, but not for its unconstitutionallity. No, he plans to veto it because procedures would get too complicated with civilians and agents who work with terrorists and are working for us as informants.

In reality, this is about to become law. I don't know the number for which it passed in the House, but it was surely not split along party lines. The same goes for the Senate. A 93 - 7 vote is almost unheard of. I guess bipartisanship is really easy when you're not trying to put on a show for everyone. Obama may or may not veto it, but if he does, I am quite certain that Congress will pass it anyways. So what's left, the Supreme Court? Oh wonderful. They have such an awesome track record of shooting down a lot of the crazy things that have been getting passed over the last 11+ years.

Why hasn't mainstream media jumped all over this? I mean, these things trample the hell out of a TON of different rights we have as US citizens. Well, when big business owns the media (outright), the government (campaign funds, etc etc), and the military (through the gov and other means I'm sure), then I guess the watchdog keeps it's trap shut when the muzzle is on.

Well, it looks like my dream of living in a military dictatorship has finally come true. Because really, how long will it be before someone asks for the presidential emergency war power to stay in office indefinitely? The War on Terror is on ongoing and a change in our leadership during wartime is hurtful to our efforts. They must be really losing that war, because I'm only becoming more and more terrified - of my own government.

Friendship is Magic

So amid all the GI Joes, Transformers, Starwars and other general badness of remakes, reboots and next gens, there's My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. And it's damn good. It's got some decent actiony-stuff to it, and some humor, and generally makes for a decent viewing experience, no matter who you are. Give it a go!

A Star Wars fanatic strangled his Thai bride to death after she destroyed his collection of toys and memorabilia in Manchester.

Ricki La Touche, 30, told the Preston Crown Court Pornpilai Srisroy, 28, damaged his Darth Vadar and Luke Skywalker memorabilia as part of a campaign to "make his life hell," the Daily Mail reports.

La Touche choked her to death during a subsequent argument in April at their home in Leigh, Greater Manchester, before going to his mother's house to tell her what had happened.

La Touch — who met his wife in a Bangkok bar 10 years ago and married her on his fourth visit to the country two years later — told the court he snapped after she threatened to leave him and go back to Bangkok.

The 30-year-old claimed he was the victim of domestic abuse from his wife, who once hit him over the head with a pool cue and threatened to kill him and "cut him up and eat him".

When police came to arrest La Touche he told them: "We argued and she said she was going to make my life hell, she's put me through it before, I couldn't let that happen again."

La Touche, who admitted manslaughter, was jailed for life yesterday after a jury found him guilty of murder.
Now not to, undermine the tragedy of this extreme case of nerdrage, but that's exactley what I'm going to do, re-reading this bit:
I think these two would have made an awesome sitcom.
