Ooooh. Did you see that?! I just got burned by Game Over, the walking, talking internet meme.

You might want to go check out 4chan while you're at it!

Ah, go easy Josh. Not everyone understands where memes are welcome and where they're not. It's like driving. You interpret the traffic with experience.
Then again, he may never learn unless you scold him.
Hell, he might not learn even then.
The important thing is that you scold him.

I dunno, it just looks like a random coincidence. Still, i wouldnt doubt that Blizzard did copy that technique off Yahtzee, cause they arr fallin lower and lower. Even with some asian fanbase of over quadrillion billion jazill- u get the picture, it seems that blizzard are procrastinating quite a lot with their new works i.e Diablo 3, Starcraft 2. Is it because they are running out of ideas or just annoying the shit out of people?

Or because that's what they've always done. It takes a long time to make good games and Blizzard hasn't released a bad or even mediocre game in god-knows-how-long. They're absurdly picky with the quality of their games, there's a reason people still play StarCraft, Diablo II and WarCraft 3 many years after their releases, and wether you like it or not, 10 million subscribers does say a fair bit about WoW's quality.

For example, Diablo 3 has gone through at least 3 total graphical style changes. Also, save for StarCraft the Western fanbase is bigger then the Asian one.

Case in point: They're not procrastinating, they're taking the time the project needs to make sure it's good. If only every developer had the privilege of being able to do that, games like Alone in the Dark wouldn't have sucked balls.

Am I right in saying that Blizzard also publish their own games?

Vivendi published WoW - and now Blizz have merged with Activision, I'd imagine they'd be their publishers now.

And yeah, as DrTorte said - there's a huge difference between purely fucking about and doing nothing when it comes to developing a game and being able to take your time and make sure the game is the best you can feasibly make it. Blizzard have always been of the 'It's done when it's done' school of thought, the same as Valve...and to be honest, a lot of developers should probably take note.

It says a fair bit about numerous other things, too. :/

Good thing they realized that it was too much of a boring, repetitive grindfest and changed a lot of things with the expansion. Still, to me it remains a boring, repetitive grindfest.

they changed a lot of things, but not enough things, and not the right things. TBC bored the pants off me... and WotLK probably won't be any better.

That's all RPG's.
Well, to me at least.

Has anyone else seen the trend lately set of a newer user revitalising an off-track topic with the help of another new user a few pages in?
No offense intended, but maybe they just read the first post and reply to it

My only main problem with WoW, apart from the RPG aspect, is plot, mostly the plot revolving around Illidan, and the constant plot 'fixing' (changing) when they bring out some new feature.

Never judge something on sales.

Is Britney Spears any good?

Also, I find RPGs to be extremely tedious. Either I have to kill, kill, kill, kill until my finger falls off the mouse and coincidentally my hand, or I have to sit through endless dialogue and story until my brain is numb. I don't like RPGs that much except for the extremely brilliant ones like Fallout.

I also believe Fallout 3 is going to be complete and utter crap, but then again that is another discussion and I've derailed enough methinks.

Indeed, you can't judge things solely on sales. There are wonderful games that don't sell well and shitty games that sell great. However, in WoW's case, it's 10 million active subscribers (trials and inactive accounts don't count). While this does include the first month of gametime you get when you buy the game, I'm willing to bet the vast majority of people would not willingly pay monthly fees for something they don't enjoy if it's easy to opt out.

Just my two cents :>.

(Also to the poster who said something about new people showing up when a thread derails, I've been lurking here for quite some time.)

Well, yeah, but you see. People DO, in fact, play a lot of shitty games, thinking they're great. Ergo, they are so masochistic (is this word right?) that they are able to shell out money to play something that they think is good, but in fact is incredibly terrible and possibly astoundingly overrated.

a) your use of the word masochistic is indeed wrong

b) it's called personal opinion. Personally, I enjoyed Wow for the 2 or so years I played it "full time", and no I'm a bit burnt out of it and log on only a few hours a week. But I can understand why people still enjoy it, and others loathe it.

If you want to see masochism in video games, check out I Wanna Be The Guy.
