Jeez, only a week away! Dare I hope that he surprises us by releasing it earlier than planned?!

As I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I realised that it could do with a lick of paint.

Pop quiz, hotshot. Garry Kasparov is coming to kill you, and the only way to change his mind is for you to beat him at chess. What do you do, what do you do?

The protagonist of Countdown 3 is probably the first major character in the Days universe not to either die or undergo intense trauma. Looks like Yahtzee is a softy at heart after all.

I can't quite follow that idea of yours, what lead you to thinking that? huh.gif

Well what do you mean 'what led me to thinking that'? Self explanatory I would have thought. If you want me to go through it completely and pedantically: name me a person in Days that didn't die or wasn't mentioned in the Book of Chzo as going to die. Only people I can think of are Somerset, who was locked away for the rest of his life, Simone, who was subjected to some scary shit in the Clanbronwyn Hotel, Frehorn, who became a servant to the Tall Man... I'm sure there are more who went through horrible experiences. Basically I think it's quite refreshing to see Yahtzee end the story with 'and he lived happily ever after'.

Pretty sweet deal for protagonist #3...

Gets money, meets evil and lives, and has a major influence on the world and it's possible destruction.

It's a win-win situation to me!

Yeah, okay, so Trilby's half-dead traumatized, Simone already met her death, Siobhan has any right to be freaked out, Malcolm's imprisoned and so on, but what makes you think that there's gonna be a happy end this time?

What? Are you deliberately being an arse? I'm not talking about 6DAS, I'm only referring to the end of Countdown 3.

Oh, and I meant Siobhan instead of Simone in my last post.

Oh.

... oh. Sorry. Nah, not deliberately, just one of those common dumb ones. I stand corrected and must apologize for my idiocity. *bows*

Really, what happened to the times when I first thought and then posted... *sighs*

Refresh my memory. Who's Malcolm?

I imagine the protagonist of 6DAS is a 400-year-old Rob Blanc who is called out of retirement because he did such a smashing job of defending the earth.

Refresh my memory. Who's Malcolm?

He's the guy from 7DAS. His name is revealed in the new text game currently on the front page of the website.

Okay, thanks. I didn't follow the doctor when I played, so I didn't catch most of the speech. I wouldn't have known he was John Somerset if I didn't walk in on the part about the "demented creativity" of how his crewmembers were killed.

As for the happily ever after thing, Jim was said to be in hiding. The worst we heard about him was he was expelled.
The Green Knight, SimeSublime the Puffinesque, liker of chips and hunter of gnomes.
JM's official press secretary, scientific advisor, diplomat and apparent antagonist?

"Find Freehorn's Blade. Put the knife on the pedestal. Take the blade. Et voilá."

Heh, I was dissapointed with that a tad bit. I also first tried, "switch blade with knife" and it didn't work, even using SWAP. I'm wondering if the blade was heavier than just a normal butter knife? Since the pedistal was a weight puzzle, wouldn't you think that putting the butter knife on the pedistal with the blade would trigger something? OR worse yet, since the butter knife was lighter, wouldn't that trigger something too after taking the blade?
This is all assuming that the knife and blade are different weights, of course wink.gif
Ah well, I suppose. All the Countdowns, even though short-lived, slapped the cat's ass smile.gif I loved the 1st and 3rd ones.
Can't wait for the final installment, Yatz! This series has been awesome. I'd love to see further horror games. You're an incredible story writer.

You reminded me of that scene in the first Indiana Jones film, where the protagonist tries to replace a fucking heavy gold idol with a ridiculously light sack of dust, but not before pouring out half the dust. That particular scene still pisses me off everytime I see it. Seems to justify the stereotype of people involved with the faculty of arts are totally baffled when it comes to maths or physics.
