Well, it's December and some would say that my Christmas list is well overdue. Most of this is straight from my Amazon.com Wish List. Anyway, here are the things I'm wanting more than anything else this Christmas. As usual they are mostly just different forms of entertainment media, because I have no personality.

DVDs

Seaquest DSV: Season One
$41.99

Finally, the best show ever is on DVD. This is a steal at $41.99 for an 8-disc set. It doesn't get released until December 26, but it's well worth the wait. This show has everything, a snotty heartthrob, a craggly-faced captain, a talking dolphin, an inept entertainment officer, a communications expert that can speak 57 languages, a goofy relationship between former lovers. EVERYTHING!

The best part is that after I get this I will not need to worry about it ever again because if they ever release the second or third (was there even a third?) season I will laugh in their big stupid faces. They can keep their spoon-bending telepaths and GELFs. Just give me some good, old-fashioned Nathan Bridger and Johnathan Brandis and I'll be all set.

Home Movies - Season Three
$25.99

The other best show ever's third season is out on DVD! I cannon emphasize how good a deal these Home Movies DVDs are. They're jam packed with 14-15 episodes, special features, commentary and interviews all for half the price it would cost to get A Muppet Family Christmas from eBay.

The 40 Year Old Virgin (Unrated Widescreen Edition)
$15.98

I was so impressed by the uncomfortable sexuality of Steve Carrell that I decided I should own this movie.

Office Space - Special Edition with Flair (Widescreen Edition)
$11.99
by Jennifer Aniston

Yep. According to Amazon.com it's "by Jennifer Aniston." I've thought it rather absurd that I didn't own this movie already but now with the new Special Edition DVD being released it is just plain dumb that only $11.99 separates me from owning this film. Sure, I could just wait ten minutes until they play it on Comedy Central again but let's face it, this movie cannot be enjoyed on TV.

Strong Bad Emails - 3 Disc DVD Set
$29.95

The first 100 Strong Bad emails on a 3 DVD set. What a brilliant idea. Now instead of all the trouble of watching them on my computer, I can lie down on my couch and enjoy the antics of Strong Bad without having to use any muscles at all.

Books

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
$6.99

Probably the biggest Star Wars expanded universe novel ever. Featuring the dashing Dash Rendar and his ship, the Outrider. I tried buying this over the summer but I accidentaly purchased the young adult version of the book. The only thing worse than a book based on another author's universe is a book dumbed down for young adults based on a book that's based on another author's universe that is already dumbed down for young adults.

On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen
$26.40

Harold McGee gives us the "straight poop" on food and cooking. He bravely says the things that others before him were too scared to say. At least that's how I imagine this book going.

Call of the Mall : The Geography of Shopping by the Author of Why We Buy
$15.72

Who can't get into the psychology of retail shopping? Well, besides you?

CDs

A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
$10.99

Mayor Bloomberg is kind enough to give us The Bridge, a show which features classic hip hop videos from the eighties and nineties. Finally, my tax dollars are going towards something that I feel good about! What's better is that this has reminded me of CDs I should have bought 15 years ago. Thanks, Mayor Bloomberg! I'm glad I didn't pee on you.

soce, the elemental wizard - "I'm in My Own World"
$12.99

I met Soce online, somehow (maybe Friendster during the two days I actually looked at Friendster). We chatted back and forth for a bit and I told him I'd ask for his album for Christmas. No one ever got it for me because they probably didn't understand what it meant. Then I forgot about it. But now I've remembered! And I want it again. It has a song about how his attacks do 7 HP of damage. How can you not like that?

Computer Hardware Stuff

Maxtor Diamondmax 10 300GB Hard Drive
$120.00

Once again I require MORE POWER! The addition of this little guy will bring my total hard drive capacity up to 0.660 Terabyte! It will also allow me to keep yet more CD rips on my computer and allow me to stream my AVIs of Briscoe County, Jr. with greater ease.

Creative Inspire T3000 3-Piece Powered Speaker System
$37.99

For five years now I've been struggling with speakers that make their fun by occassionally cutting out, turning into mono or just raising the volume by 800%. Still, with all this annoyance I have simply stood by and wanted some new speakers without actually doing anything.

You really can't beat that kind of overall torpor.

I Do not celebrate Christmas but prefer to buy computer equipment compared to films, people just act for a short while for the money. Compared to all time performance.

I waited and saved a long time to buy the Netgear Smart switch 24 port 1 gigabit switch. Solved the bottlenecks round the house.

Pleased with the performance but a bit noisy. Now that plays for me everytime.

What kind of switch/ router do you have?

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
$6.99

Is this the one that's supposed to come between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, also featuring a supposedly sexy green alien with a ponytail and irresistable pheremones? If so, I had that book when I was in the 5th grade and couldn't stop reading it over and over... Then I got embarrassed and gave it away, along with all my other Star Wars books (about 25 of them) in middle school.

Stupid me. I know.

I was just wondering if I really wasn't the only one on the face of the earth to have really enjoyed that book.
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

I read it. I enjoyed it. There are other Star Wars books that are better IMO, but I remember I liked that one.

So, Chef, what did you get from the list for Christmas?
