If I may?

Lea, do you remember your mother, your real mother?

This is how Luke answers Lea’s question, Luke what’s wrong? In ROTJ.
Now Luke is about to reveal to her that she is his sister and their mutual father is Darth Vader, so I guess it is reasonable to "worm the scene up" talking about their mother. Lea replies with vague fuzzy memories, the whole thing is rather boring and then they get down to business.
Now jump a head twenty years and we all know that their mother died in child berth (or what ever) and the bit has gone from somewhat boring to completely enigmatic or outright inconsistent.
Now fanboy has been working overtime on this, I have heard everything from, prenatal memory to Padme learning the path to immortality. However, even if any of these were viable of themselves (which is a stretch) they do not even come close to explaining why Lea had these memories and Luke did not or why he thought she would.
But the real question is, why did Lukas not simply re-edit the scene? This is definitely more of a problem then the Vader/Sidious scene in ESB and much easier to fix.

I guess Lukas was to busy dubbing Boba Fett to weary about a real inconsistency.

I think it deserves at least a couple of flying R2s and a Chewbacca.

Are you only nit-picking the Special Editions of the original trilogy?

If you give the OT as much scrutiny as you are giving, say, Revenge Of The Sith, then I have to add that even as a dumb little kid, I thought it was extremely dumb that the ship that the Rebels choose to fly into the tight, narrow, shaft leading into the Death Star reactor core was the bulky, pancake shaped Millennium Falcon.

I'm not saying that sequence isn't still cool - it's just frustrating.

Pancake shaped M.F. I've never thought of the MF as a pancake: but now that I think about it, it is pretty fat... and thick... like a pancake. the ones I make, anyway. thumbsup.gif

I thought the MF destroying the DS was a part I would keep in there if I could make my own ROTJ movie. It gives the MF a stronger purpose in the trilogy.

Quick comment on the final Nitpick. I think that Hayden was used in the special edition because all of the apparitions were shown, not at their age at death, but at the height of their, light side, power. Thus Yoda, the older he got, the wiser he became, the more power he got. Same with Obi-Wan. Anakin, however, was at the height of his power just before becoming Darth Vader, so he is displayed as being younger.

I think Obi-wan was strongest when he used a blaster. It proved he was willing to clear his mind, as well as his credibility.

I just love when people find explanations like this for stupid things Lucas did. It is the same with trying to justify Leia's memory of her mother and Luke's lack of thereof. Can't you just accept the fact that it is slightly ridiculous to see sense where there clrealy was none in the first place? Lucas did all that tweaking and revamping just beacuse he thinks such things "cool" - and apparently convinces a few people that indeed they are. Now I find that sad.

I agree with you, MC.

You know, I wonder sometimes, seeing as how they left Sir Alec Guinness's ghost alone, if Lucas would have dared to insert that crappy CGI ghost of Hayden in ROTJ if the older Anakin had been played by someone more famous/iconic than the late Sebastian Shaw (God rest his soul), like Burt Lancaster or Charlton Heston.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

Burt Lancaster. Now that would have been cool. Charlton Heston would throw away his light sabre and wander around with a pump-action. The Stormtroopers would be "Damned Commies!" :-)

Allraaight! Eppie 6!

Well, honestly, the music stuff didn't bother me too much, but I didn't really pay attention to music back before the changes enough to care.

As for the Han line change, I kinda liked it. It added a fun line of humour; why not. smile.gif "It's alright, I can see alot better" Nooo heee cooouldnnnn't. biggrin.gif The shot was half-skill/half-luck. Han knows it, but wants Lan to chill.

The ease of the Ewok victory'd always bothered me; not enough to ruin anything for me, but still... Sticks and stones really broke sum bones there.

Yeah, dry.gif , unecessary.

I noticed the Chewy Tarzan too. It was like nails on a chalkboard.

As for the sad reminders, they hurt too.

I loved the Chewbacca Tarzan yell. I wish he had also yelled "Yabba dabba doo" later in the battle.

The Chewbacca tarzan yell is ridiculous. Chewbacca never went to Tarzan training, and if he did, that Tarzan yell was the product of many combined animal noises, played back in reverse. Or maybe you can snope me on that. The point is; the Tarzan yell is a highly manipulated sound effect. There's simply no way that Chewbacca could have begun to approach imitating such a creation without years of training shown on screen. Except for the big gaps in Mr. So and so's storyline. NO no no. It's not possible, it's unacceptable and you all know it.

Funny that the Chewbacca Tarzan yell never bothered me until I came to this forum. Actually, it still doesn't because I heard Chewbacca use that yell before Tarzan did. Seriously, who actually watched that crap Tarzan show as a kid?

I didn't much notice the Chewie Tarzan yell at first, but, after watching the Disney Tarzan, I picked up on it right away. dry.gif

They didn't include it in there, just for you, Storm.

When ROTJ came out, EVERYbody in the Audience who "got" the joke, had previously seen a Tarzan film or televised rerun.

The fact that Tarzan has slipped a little from our society's recurring memory Dates the inference, if nothing else.
